How to grow Thailand Orchid for Dendrobiums, Vandas, Cattleyas, Arandas, Oncidium in Tropical Climate.
The following techniques are being used in the original nursery.
- Temperature : Maximum 35 Degree, Minimum 12 Degree Celcius
- Light Intensity : 2,000 to 6,000 foot candles (50% shade)
- Relatively Humidity : 30 to 90 %
- Ventilation : light breeze
- Fertilizer :
- Once a week, 0.20 % all year round
- 0.20 % means 40 grams of fertilizer in 20 litres of water
- N : P : K ratio 18:18:18 with trace element
- Apply early in the morning
- Quantity of fertililzed water is 1/4 of normal quantity of water. For example, normal watering needs 50 Litres of water per application, we need only 100 Litres of fertilized water.
- Do not apply fertilizer to plants less than 48 hours before cutting the flowers. Unused fertilizer will spoil the flowers after cutting
Fungicide
- Once a week, concentration 0.10% , 20 grams per 20 litres of water
- Fugicide of Mancozeb, and Captan, Cabendazim to be used in rotation
- Apply early in the moring .
- Sticker or wetter can be added for better preventation.
Insecticide and Miticide
- 0.1 % concerntration monthly - Watering
-Every morning, well soaked not just wet. On every warm day, watering in the afternoon is required as an addition
-Plants should be completely dry two hours after watering.
-Growing mediums, light intensity and ventilation have to be adjusted, if plants shown signs of insufficient watering.
